Safeguarding Notice:
St. Matthew and St. Leonard is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishop's guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSO's. The Diocese of Liverpool's safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm, please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

God welcomes you, and so do we.
Our lovely stewards will greet you at the door on your arrival, answer any questions you may have and help you find a seat.
We welcome people of all backgrounds and those thinking about the Christian faith for the first time. Just come as you are! you will find us friendly and welcoming.
Here we have a passion for God - our focus is to be churches always looking upward in worship, inwards towards discipleship, nurture. A house of prayer and love for each other as God loves us. We are outward looking in service and mission; making Jesus known and bringing more justice in our community and the world.

What Lent is for me....
Lent is a gentle invitation from Christ to slow down. In a world full of noise, this season calls me to quiet my heart and listen more closely to God. It’s a time for reflection—on my choices, my habits, and where I’ve allowed distractions to take the place of faith. Through self-discipline, we learn that less can truly be more: less scrolling, less rushing, less clutter in my spirit. Lent isn’t about perfection, but about intention making room for prayer, grace and renewal. In the
stillness, God speaks, and I’m reminded of what truly matters.

An Easter Message
As Easter arrives, we are reminded that even after the darkest night, the dawn still comes.
At the heart of Easter, is the good news of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, the victory of life over death, hope over despair and light over darkness. The empty tomb is not only a moment in history; it is a living promise that God’s love is stronger than any sorrow we face and that new life is always possible through Him.
Easter tells us that no situation is beyond redemption. Because Jesus rose again, we are given the assurance that death does not have the final word, fear does not define our future, and brokenness can be restored. His resurrection is a declaration that hope is alive.
In a world that can feel uncertain and heavy, this good news anchors us. Just as spring brings fresh blossoms from winter’s bare branches, the resurrection reminds us that God brings renewal from places that once seemed barren. Through Christ, we are invited into new beginnings, marked by grace, forgiveness, and an unshakable hope.
May this Easter fill your heart with the peace that comes from knowing that Jesus lives. May your home be filled with joy, and your days with renewed faith and purpose. And may the risen Christ strengthen you to walk forward with confidence,
trusting that the same power that raised Him brings life and hope to us today. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful Easter.
